I don't Bake...I Burn

Yea, so....when I cook on a stove top or even sometimes roast in the oven, I make deeeeelicious food.

My curse is baking things. Like cookies and such. I totally burn them, no matter what I do. I could blame it on the oven. I could blame it on the altitude (sha!). I could even blame it on the ingredients. But, no matter WHERE I am or what I'm baking, if it's dessertish, it's toast.

Good example?

Ok.

Here's my friend's baking prowess with which I helped (meaning I watched).

Yummy! Like 4 or 5 different types of cookies, all made from scratch.

Here's mine...

Looks tasty right?

Store bought, in the frig sextion, ready to bake lil squares. All I had to do was follow the instructions. Yea, I followed em. Then I added like 1 minute at a time cause it wasn't even brown after the maximum cookie baking time on the FN instructions.

FINALLY it looked done, so I took it out. VOILA! looks like in the picture.

After only adding SIX fn minutes.

Take one bite, it crumbles into dust.

FN cookies.

I'll just buy em already fn burnt from now on and save me the trouble.

A Very Merry Christmas to You!

During this Christmas season,
Though the Blues may come,
Though the money ran out,
Though the family may fight,
or the Food may not turn out,
You have but to remember,
The Reason of the Season.
Have faith that you are loved.
The Blues will turn to Joy,
The Money will return,
The Family will make up,
And The Food will still burn,
If I'm trying to bake.
A Very Merry Christmas to you,
My Friends and Family!
Above All,
Remember to Live,
Remember to Laugh,
and Remember to Love.

Noggin Joggin!

Try this sometime....
Give yourself 3.5 minutes to write a poem and see what comes out of your noggin.
This was my Noggin Joggin for the day... lol (and no, I never said ALL my effin poems were good so :P )

Ode to this CA Weather...

Oh this California weather peaks,
This Global Warming,
It surely Does Reek.
My pool froze over,
Just the other day,
As if I was in Iceland,
Some city by a bay.
What the HECK!
I didst decry,
All the while,
Mine nasal passages,
They did die.
My Nose Runneth over,
My lungs they did sneeze,
My toes went blue all over,
They surely did freeze.
It never rains in California!
HA! They were oh so wrong,
Eff those dang Liberals who wrote that song!
Give me back my warmth,
Oh Great God in the Sky,
I can’t rhyme with warmth,
So I’ll just say Bye Bye.

yea yea. it sucked...
so what?
:)
I get to go pick up my son at the airport tonight! YAY!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Another Project in the Books

Yes, I completed a small project commissioned by a good friend of mine!

WOOP WOOP!

She asked me to make her a children's picnic table for her daycare business and even had the plans. How could I say no to THAT kinda fun!

She knew I needed something to do and I knew she needed the table so we got to work....

She made the tea whilst I made the table and VOILA!

A kid-sized pic-a-nic table!!

The kids were SO happy and proud of their little table! It made me feel good that they loved it and my friend loved it. Heck, I'm still grinnin from it!

It was a fun little project. If anyone is interested you can Clickety click clickaroo

Dream Interpreters R Us

After yesterdays post, I was curious as to what flying means in your dream.
So, being the nerd that I am, I googled "Dream interpretation" and found a website (Link is below).
This is what it told me about flying in your dreams:

Flying dreams fall under a category of dreams where you become aware that you are dreaming, known as lucid dreaming. Many dreamers have described the ability to fly in their dreams as an exhilarating, joyful, and liberating experience.
If you are flying with ease and enjoying the scene and landscape below, then it suggests that you are on top of a situation. You have risen above something. It may also mean that you have gained a different perspective on things. Flying dreams and the ability to control your flight is representative of your own personal sense of power.
Having difficulties staying in flight indicates a lack of power in controlling your own circumstances. You may be struggling to stay aloft and stay on course. Things like power lines, trees, or mountains may further obstruct your flight. These barriers represent a particular obstacle or person who is standing in your way in your waking life.
You need to identify who or what is hindering you from moving forward. If you are feeling fear when you are flying or that you feel that you are flying too high, then it suggests that you are afraid of challenges and of success. In reality, we do not have the ability to fly. Thus such dreams may represent that which is beyond our physical limitations.
In your mind, you can be anybody and do anything. Another way of interpreting flying dreams is that these dreams symbolize your strong mind and will. You feel undefeatable and nobody can tell you what you cannot do and accomplish. Undoubtedly these dreams leave you a great sense of freedom.

Pretty interesting huh!!
I favorited that website instantly.
I'll be back there today checking out what last nights dream meant. It was ummm....weird to say the least.
Going down to the local community college today to get my transcripts and see what I actually need to finish my Associate in Arts Degree. I'm pretty sure I only need a few classes, and I want to make sure I take the right ones. I may re-take a class or two as well. But, I need that FN transcript to make sure. YAY! Fiellllld Triiiiiip!

Book-Scape

Everyone's had a dream that they didn't want to wake up from, whether it was sexual, inspiring, or just a really great adventure. I had a dream that I didn't want to wake up from this morning. No, I didn't wake up with morning wood, (lol) but it was an inspiring really great adventure.
These types of dreams, when I have them, are usually book material. And, this dream was no exception to that rule that may be uniquely mine. (I know it's not, and people that are born on the same day as me usually have strange dreams as well.)
Without getting into the details of the dream, it had to do with "energies" again. This strange compulsion I have with internal energy is almost annoying. If it wasn't so fascinating to me, I may have stopped talking about it already. (Ha Ha!)
In this dream, I got to fly again. I've said before that I fly alot in my dreams. I haven't for quite a while, so this was a treat for me. I haven't dreamt of flying for months. Perhaps, only when I'm at peace with myself or surroundings do I dream that. Hmmm, something for me to think about more. By the way, in the dreams, it's not flying in an airplane or a some contraption, it's me flying all by my lonesome, like some kind of power or gift. I'm sure most of us have been asked the question, "If you could have a super power and could choose, what would it be?".
DUH! Mine would be the power of flight.
No, it's not one of the greatest super powers, but hey, that's my pick. Yea, I'm a nerd. So what?
If they ever make some kind of technology that lets us fly around by ourselves, I am SO there getting one. Scientists... HURRY UP ALREADY!
Hey, that would solve our energy problems regarding cars. A family could just fly their way to their vacation. Ya know, tether the kids to the parents so they don't fly off by themselves.
Men could just unzip and pee on a forest or something if they had to...or ummmm they could make outhouses in mid-air. (Ok that was dumb, outhouses don't have a bottom to them and the pee would just fall to the earth anyways lol)
Tannnngent.
Anyhoot, I had a great dream that I didn't want to wake up from this morning and I wish I could share, but I like to keep these to myself. If I dream it again, then I really know that it's novel material. And, this particular one, would be of great interest to some people. I'll have to talk to one of my BFF's about it just to get it off my chest (so to speak). Methinks I'll start one of those dream journals someday. I've got one sitting right here on my desk. It could easily be used as such. I even have a pen! WOOHOO!
Had any good dreams lately?

Staff update:
I've stripped, sanded, sanded again, wiped, stained, and stained again the majority (all but two) of the staves (ok, I'm gonna spell it staffs from now on...) that I'm making for Christmas. The staining and clear coating process takes several days, as each coat needs to dry well before another coat is applied. Between the staining and clear coating the staffs get another light sanding to knock off anything that has risen in the grain from the staining process. I've completed 6 staffs now, with the last 5 to be completed soon. WOOHOO! It's been a fun project. I'm happy about the results. I started a new one yesterday, scraping it down to the bare wood. I think that's the hardest part of the whole process. Time consuming it is, but such an important part of it. I'll post a video of the completed staffs after I've finished them all....

"If any one faculty of our nature may be called more wonderful than the rest, I do think it is memory. There seems something more speakingly incomprehensible in the powers, the failures, the inequalities of memory, than in any other of our intelligences. The memory is sometimes so retentive, so serviceable, so obedient; at others, so bewildered and so weak; and at others again, so tyrannic, so beyond control! We are, to be sure, a miracle every way; but our powers of recollecting and of forgetting do seem peculiarly past finding out." -- Jane Austen, Mansfield Park

Dec 7th 1941, a date which will live in Infamy!

The following is the now famous Pearl Harbor speech delivered to a joint session of Congress by President Roosevelt, 67 years ago today, the day following the attack upon our country by the nation of Japan which entered us into World War II. NEVER FORGET the sacrifice of our nation and our military.

Mr. Vice President, Mr. Speaker, Members of the Senate, and of the House of Representatives:
Yesterday, December 7th, 1941 -- a date which will live in infamy -- the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.
The United States was at peace with that nation and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with its government and its emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific.

Indeed, one hour after Japanese air squadrons had commenced bombing in the American island of Oahu, the Japanese ambassador to the United States and his colleague delivered to our Secretary of State a formal reply to a recent American message. And while this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of war or of armed attack.

It will be recorded that the distance of Hawaii from Japan makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time, the Japanese government has deliberately sought to deceive the United States by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

The attack yesterday on the Hawaiian islands has caused severe damage to American naval and military forces. I regret to tell you that very many American lives have been lost. In addition, American ships have been reported torpedoed on the high seas between San Francisco and Honolulu.

Yesterday, the Japanese government also launched an attack against Malaya.

Last night, Japanese forces attacked Hong Kong.

Last night, Japanese forces attacked Guam.

Last night, Japanese forces attacked the Philippine Islands.

Last night, the Japanese attacked Wake Island.

And this morning, the Japanese attacked Midway Island.

Japan has, therefore, undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout the Pacific area. The facts of yesterday and today speak for themselves. The people of the United States have already formed their opinions and well understand the implications to the very life and safety of our nation.

As commander in chief of the Army and Navy, I have directed that all measures be taken for our defense. But always will our whole nation remember the character of the onslaught against us.
No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory.
I believe that I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost, but will make it very certain that this form of treachery shall never again endanger us.

Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory, and our interests are in grave danger.

With confidence in our armed forces, with the unbounding determination of our people, we will gain the inevitable triumph -- so help us God.

I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December 7th, 1941, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese empire.

What is "NORMAL" Anyways?

I was having a conversation with a friend last night about “normal”.
We came to the conclusion rather quickly that there IS no normal anymore.
“Normal” is only what you have experienced.
It’s totally different for every single person. Even in a family situation, there may be some correlations with other family members, but normal for one child or one adult is and can be something extremely different. Normal for the Father is (or should be) going to work and providing for the family. The mother, keeping the house, or the second income, etc. Anyways, you get my drift.
So, normal could be being socially accepted or politically correct. I say eff those. Do what you want within the realms of civility and the law.
Wear your hat crooked if that’s normal for you. (no don't, that's what I do, you can't be normal like me.)
I suppose the word “Individual” could now be interposed with “Normal”, because since it’s different for everyone, we could use it instead.
You’re “normal” is your identity. Fit into it. Shape it. Be who you are. If someone doesn’t like you for it, Eff em! Of course, this doesn’t give you license to be uncivil and a total asshole. Well, I suppose it does, if you want to be “Normally” without friends. That would be on you.
ASSHOLES UNITE!
Ok. Tangent there.
So, back to being norrrrrmal.
Oh, wait, that’s Individual for me isn’t it.
HA! HA!
Here’s the challenge for the day.
Don’t say “normal”. Instead, say “individual”.
I wonder what kinds of comments you’ll get…
